A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):
In Spring 2024, AUS relaunched the "AUS Green Office Program" across all campus offices with the support of AUS' senior leadership team. With the help of the Deans and Directors, AUS Sustainability was able to identify one "Eco-Ambassador" per department/office. The Eco-Ambassadors represent their respective department/office in the Green Office Program and form the communication link between the AUS Sustainability Office and all AUS employees. The Green Office Program was kicked off with an initial Eco-Ambassador Workshop, educating the participants on - the definition of sustainability - the importance of sustainability in higher education - the role of the Eco-Ambassadors in the AUS Green Office Program - how to build a sustainable office culture at AUS. At the end of the workshop session, the Eco-Ambassadors were asked to identify behaviors that should be encouraged or discouraged through their peer education activities to promote a sustainable office culture at AUS. The team of AUS Sustainability is consolidating the ideas generated during the workshop to formulate focus areas for the Green Office Program and provide all Eco-Ambassadors with the additional resources for effective peer education and outreach.
A brief description of the employee educators program’s target audience (1st program):
The AUS Green Office Program targets all employees at the university, i.e. full-time and part-time, faculty and staff. Eco-Ambassadors attend workshops where a presentation on a topic is delivered and discussed. Participants then break out into groups to brainstorm ideas on issues they've identified in their respective offices. Time is spent on reflection and reporting out to the group. Additionally, a shared document was created for all Eco-Ambassadors to contribute ideas and/or issues to in between sessions. This document is continually updated and addressed in subsequent workshops.
