A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
The college initiated a Green Revolving Fund in October 2011 after a year of research and analysis of our funding options. Agnes Scott's fund, which will be used to make strategic investments in energy and water retrofit projects, is also a powerful pedagogical tool to help students learn about the costs and benefits of sustainability proposals and projects. Funds will include the utility savings from energy reduction projects - thus the name "revolving fund" - but importantly these funds will be combined with others from individual donors, foundations and the college's operating budget. Agnes Scott joined the Billion Dollar Challenge as a charter member, committing to raise at least $1 million for the fund in two years. The first two donations have now been received. We expect to fund the first project during this fiscal year (before June 30, 2012).
