The RCE Greater Atlanta is a network of multidisciplinary stakeholders, including higher education institutions, businesses, non-governmental organizations, community associations, and local, regional, state and federal governments. All RCEs are committed to implementing the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with the Greater Atlanta region deeming priority for:
• SDG 1: No Poverty
• SDG 2: Zero Hunger
• SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being
• SDG 4: Quality Education
• SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
• SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
• SDG 13: Climate Action
Representatives from Agnes Scott’s Center for Sustainability were present for various stakeholder meetings throughout the application process, and our president submitted an official letter of support. Since the RCE’s acceptance, Agnes Scott has hosted the RCE group on campus. We have had students actively engaged in the required RCE Youth Network. We also led a collaborative effort to submit an AASHE conference proposal, which will be presented at AASHE 2018. Our Executive Director of the Center for Sustainability was also selected to serve on the Steering Committee beginning in May 2018.
