Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Weatherwise/Otherwise Art Exhibit

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
The Agnes Scott Dalton Gallery hosted the exhibition "weatherwise/otherwise: artists respond to climate change" as its fall 2017 exhibition. The exhibit featured artists who observe varied facets of the weather and climate picture, and its impact on our planet, the human race, and other living things. The observations were wide ranging - from data visualizations of meteorological statistics to perplexed penguins who find themselves in a warming setting, to disappearing shorelines and thinning tree covers co-existing with cosmic views of clouds and the earth under pressure in living color and 3-D. These observations may stop us in our tracks with their beauty, yet leave yet leave us pondering their deeper impact. The artists featured in the exhibit were: Peter Bayhouth, Bruce Bobick, John Cargile, Mary Edna Fraser, Carolyn Halliday, Kathryn Kolb, Bettina Matzkuhn, Qavavau Manumie, Nathalie Miebach, Ohotaq Mikkigak, Nigiukulu Teevee, and Karen Reese Tunnell. The exhibition featured a variety of programming and multi-disciplinary events, which included: “Rising Tides: An Illustrated Talk” Lecture and Sneak Peek of the Exhibition with artist Mary Edna Fraser Exhibition Opening Reception & Artist Talks “Climate Justice Leadership: Past, Present, and Future” with Dianne Dillon Ridgley, Environmental Activist “Reversing Climate Change: Women’s Leadership” with Katharine Wilkinson, Project Dawdown “Energy for All” with Berneta Hayes, Georgia Watch Filming Screening with Telluride Mountainfilm In total, the exhibit had approximately 1,000 visits, making it one of the most successful exhibitions at Agnes Scott, and a remarkable reflection on our community’s support for sustainability at Agnes Scott. After each speaking event, receptions were held in the gallery. Additionally, the college’s gallery manager offered private gallery tours to both on campus and off campus groups. This exhibition was truly innovative not only because it was a multi-disciplinary approach to thinking about climate change, but it also marked the 10th anniversary of climate action at Agnes Scott. Included within the exhibition were displays about how the college was addressing the same concerns that were present in the artists work. The exhibition and the speaker series were intended to engage our entire campus community and surrounding Atlanta community on the incredible work the college has done to date to achieve its goal of carbon neutrality by 2037. This program was designed to be inclusive of students, staff, faculty and our surrounding community.
