Does the institution have an ongoing program that offers incentives for academic staff in multiple disciplines or departments to develop new sustainability courses and/or incorporate sustainability into existing courses? :
Yes

A brief description of the incentive program(s):
Previously, the Center for Sustainability has sponsored faculty to participate in the Piedmont Project at Emory University, which provides faculty with the tools necessary to integrate sustainability into their courses. Agnes Scott faculty are still able to participate in the Piedmont Project if they are interested.

Beginning in Spring 2021, Agnes Scott has developed its own program for incentivizing sustainability courses. This program has been developed to support the college’s upcoming conference “Building a Better World Women and Climate Justice.” A limited number of curricular development stipends are available to support faculty who integrate course modules, learning activities, and assignments that connect with the topics of sustainability and/or climate justice and help students practice skills and competencies relevant in a professional context. Faculty will receive stipends based on proposals which:
-Result in projects that students can present at the student showcase session at the conference in September 2021
-Substantially integrate the conference themes during the Fall 2021 semester.
At the time of STARS submission, these proposals were under review by the faculty co-chairs. A list of courses developed through these stipends will be included in future STARS reports. These courses will be developed for Fall 2021.

A brief description of the incentives that academic staff who participate in the program(s) receive:
For faculty interested in completing the Piedmont Project, the ESS co-chairs provide a monetary stipend for the completion of the course,

Successful proposals for the "Building a Better World Women and Climate Justice" conference will be awarded monetary stipends for curriculum development from the Goizueta Grant for Professional Success.
