1st program

Name of the student educators program (1st program):
Environmental Residents

A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
The Environmental Residents (ERs) work in collaboration with the Center for Sustainability to encourage sustainable living habits among their student peers. They maintain communication with their Resident Assistant and custodians to ensure the Center’s sustainability goals are being achieved. They also design monthly programming and awareness campaigns to extend their outreach to the entire student body. Any student is eligible to apply for the ER program, including commuter students, so now we have a way to ensure these non-residential students are receiving sustainability outreach as well. In the week prior to the start of the fall semester, the ERs return to campus for an orientation program. Led by their staff adviser, the ERs receive an overview of sustainability on campus, including a sustainability-focused tour of campus, and review their initiatives for the year. The ERs also review the expectations for their position and participate in team bonding activities. Environmental Residents engage in peer-to-peer education by working with student organizations who want to plan more sustainable events, programming in the residence halls to highlight sustainable living habits and expanding awareness of local and global issues in sustainability. Part of the peer-to-peer education includes a "passion project" that ERs choose that can be in any topic of sustainability that interests them. ERs showcase their passion projects on the Center for Sustainability’s social media to share with the Agnes and outside community.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):
Since ~80% of our students live on campus, the ERs primary responsibilities are in their residence halls by promoting sustainable living habits in the dorms.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Information for this credit was completed based on student outcomes pre-COVID19 to reflect programming during normal college operations. While both of these organizations continued to be active from March 2020-present, the COVID19 pandemic severely impacted their outreach efforts.

All undergraduate students are receive peer-to-peer education through these two programs, including commuter students. These two programs do not actively engage with Agnes Scott's graduate student population, and those students are therefore are not counted in the number of students served.
