Part 1. Greenhouse gas emissions inventory
Yes
A copy of the most recent GHG emissions inventory:
A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:
Agnes Scott uses the SIMAP tool from the University of New Hampshire as its carbon and nitrogen accounting platform.
Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
Yes
A brief description of the GHG inventory verification process:
The GHG inventory was reviewed by a professor in the Physics Department and by former GHG Sustainability Fellow, Gianni Rodriguez, who has extensive experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting the college’s GHG data. The GHG and energy data included in this STARS report was reviewed by the Director of Facilities.
Documentation to support the GHG inventory verification process:
---
Scope 1 GHG emissions
Weight in MTCO2e | |
Stationary combustion | 1,601.82 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent |
Other sources (mobile combustion, process emissions, fugitive emissions) | 21.81 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent |
Total gross Scope 1 GHG emissions, performance year:
1,623.63
Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Scope 2 GHG emissions
Weight in MTCO2e | |
Imported electricity | 5,106 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent |
Imported thermal energy | 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent |
Total gross Scope 2 GHG emissions, performance year:
5,106

A brief description of how the institution accounted for its Scope 3 emissions:
For Scope 3, the college does not account for emissions from purchased goods and services, capital goods, and waste generated. Emissions from T&D losses are represented under GHG emission activities not included in Scope 1 or Scope 2.
Study abroad travel data is collected from the Center for Global Studies. Business travel data is collected from the Office of Business and Finance. Commuting data is collected through a commuter survey administered in partnership with the Office of Human Resources.
