A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
The Office of People and Culture (previously named the Office of Human Resources, and still often referred to be that name) and the Office of Institutional Research administered a Staff Satisfaction and Engagement Survey which was administered to all college staff who are on payroll. The participation rate for this survey was an impressive 76%. The survey was promoted through internal campus communications and staff email, and was administered online. To ensure that all staff had access to the survey, paper copies were provided to any staff member who did not have access to the proper technology. Special outreach was done for these individuals.
In addition, all academic staff receive a separate survey instrument every year to assess faculty satisfaction. This survey is conducted by the Office of Academic Affairs and the Office of Institutional Research.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:
As part of the survey, staff were asked “how can the Office of People and Culture most help you better succeed in your work” for which the top responses were:
- Assisting work life balance
- Providing career planning and growth/training for managers
- Promoting workplace equities
As of April 2021, the Office has begun to implement measures to directly address these desires, including revamping the employee wellness program and developing a training program for managers to be implemented once the college resumes in-person operations in the fall.
In addition to these immediate actions, the Office of People and Culture and the Office of Institutional Research have outlined the following next steps to address issues and concerns raised by the campus survey:
- Community meeting was hel to share summary reports on April 16, 2021.
- VPs received divisional reports.
- Action plans will be created by all divisions to focus on improvement areas and those plans will be collected by June 30.
- Office of People and Culture will address mandate areas and connect its work to related strategic plan initiatives.
- The college is committed to an annual survey.
The academic staff survey is reviewed by the Office of Academic Affairs and the Office of Institutional Research. The results of that survey are presented to the president’s cabinet and to the executive committee of the faculty to address concerns raised from the survey.
