Criteria
An institution earns 1 bonus point when it A) hosts a peer-to-peer exchange program or lending library that is explicitly designed to ensure that students in financial need have access to required course materials and B) provides incentives for academic employees that explicitly encourage the authorship, peer review, and/or adoption of open educational resources (OER). Partial points are available. An institution that meets one, but not both, of the criteria earns 0.5 bonus points.
Measurement
Report on the current status of the institution’s programs and initiatives.
Conventional textbook buyback and resale programs and library collections that may include copies of textbooks on reserve do not qualify in the absence of a peer-to-peer program.
Incentives may include honors, fellowships, titles, monetary rewards, and/or release time. Incentives to replace commercial course materials with licensed library content that is openly available to all the members of the institution) also qualify.
Applicability
This credit is optional.
