A brief description of the program:
Local vendors are utilized whenever possible in regards to the purchase of goods and services. Many local companies provide services such as tree trimming, construction, advertising, etc. In addition, preference for purchasing from local North Carolina businesses is outlined in the State of North Carolina Executive Order 50. This order was enacted "to develop a price-matching preference for North Carolina resident bidders on contracts for the purchase of goods so that qualified North Carolina companies whose price is within five percent (5%) or $10,000.00 of the lowest bid, whichever is less, may be awarded contracts with the State of North Carolina."
