Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
*Appalachian's drinking water is purified rainwater captured in a nearby valley. Appalachian has installed 15 water bottle refilling stations across campus in an effort to provide filtered water to the campus and cut down on purchased bottled water. *Appalachian's vending machine contract is with Pepsi. Our current contract limits our ability to ban bottled water on campus. However, we are working with Pepsi to place additional bottle recycling containers on campus to capture plastic water bottles from entering the landfill. *Appalachian ONLY irrigates 1 soccer field and 2 softball fields. During drought conditions, irrigation is eliminated/reduced. Additionally, we use 98 - 100% native plant species in order to emulate the natural environment.
