Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Due to our location in the mountains of NC, a 100 mile radius is challenging. Growing seasons are shorter, resulting in less product availability. This radius also eliminates the many farms across the state of NC from which we regularly purchase produce. The same applies to food items processed within NC. Our institution definition of local adheres to AASHE's standard of 250 miles, and the percentage of food grown and processed within this definition is 10%.
The information presented here is self-reported. While AASHE staff review portions of all STARS reports and institutions are welcome to seek additional forms of review, the data in STARS reports are not verified by AASHE. If you believe any of this information is erroneous or inconsistent with credit criteria, please review the process for inquiring about the information reported by an institution or simply email your inquiry to stars@aashe.org.
