A brief description of the vegan dining program:
Arizona State University offers a variety of dining options to accommodate vegetarian and vegan lifestyles. Each residential dining hall has a veggie station offering a meat-free main dish daily. We also feature salad bars, soymilk, and treats such as vegan brownies. The Barrett Dining Center offers menu items that accommodate dietary needs and environmentally-conscious food preferences, including vegetarian/vegan, USDA organic, gluten-free, and rGBH-free. The Green Plate Club is part of Arizona State University’s Dining’s efforts to promote awareness about consumption and green behaviors as they relate to campus life. Once a week, we invite students to make a conscious effort to eat foods that are “greener” or that take less energy to produce Local, sustainable and healthy food is conveniently packaged in eco-friendly containers and available at convenience stores across all four Arizona State University campuses. The seasonal menu changes monthly to feature a variety of vegan and vegetarian items and to give students a taste of what’s growing in and around the valley. Engrained Café is our sustainable dining concept. It is a living-learning restaurant that is committed to locally grown food and environmentally friendly practices. The menu features a wide variety of vegan and vegetarian options, along with locally grown and harvested food prepared to order. Our seasonal menu includes organic produce, Fair-Trade coffee, cage-free eggs and chicken, free-range beef and sustainable seafood.
