A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction:
The University Staff Council presented a series of Town Hall Meetings in September and October 2009. One meeting was held on each of the four University campuses. All University staff was invited to submit questions anonymously before and after the meetings. The University’s Executive Vice President, Treasurer, and Chief Financial Officer, as well as the Senior Director of the Office of Human Resources, were present to answer any in person questions as well as those submitted anonymously before the meetings. The Executive Vice President invited all the heads of the respective administrative and service units to these meetings so that they could hear first hand any issues or concerns. The University Staff Council collected all issues and concerns for subsequent answers, follow up, and publishing in the University Staff Council Friday Digest (an electronic newsletter). These Town Hall Meetings were intended to get the pulse of employees University-wide, and are not the only initiatives of the University Staff Council in this regard. The mission of the University Staff Council is to improve working climate, enhance staff communication, and promote professional development. The Council’s Work Climate Committee continually assesses employee satisfaction and makes recommendations for improvement. The Council’s Campus Safety and Health Committee do similar work for employee safety, health, and wellness. The University Staff Council also has a Sustainability Committee that recommends improvements to enhance sustainability.
