The Sustainability Solutions Festival

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
The Sustainability Solutions Festival is a month-long series of sustainability related events throughout the Valley of the Sun. The festival brings sustainability to every corner of the university and to many places throughout the valley. This event goes above and beyond standard sustainability engagement and outreach efforts due to its shear size, scope, and partnerships. Intro video: https://vimeo.com/119499728 Finding solutions to the complex issues of sustainability calls for many perspectives and partners. The Sustainability Solutions Festival convenes the planet’s top sustainability events and organizations each February to discover and explore how we can individually and collectively re-imagine our lives and our planet. Additionally, the Festival supports programs throughout the year, such as the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, that honor future innovators and leaders of our world. Working with key partners such as GreenBiz, Second Nature, City of Phoenix, Arizona Science Center, Society for Science and the Public, and local and national businesses and NGOs, the Festival has engaged 41,319 attendees, 42 community and business partners and honored 440 young innovators in its three years of existence and looks to double that in year four alone. Leveraging relationships such as these to bring diverse groups and audiences together and build coalitions to host events not only expands core audiences, it makes for stronger messaging, long-lasting partnerships and impactful actions.
