Does the institution have a bicycle-sharing program or participate in a local bicycle-sharing program?:
Yes

A brief description of the bicycle sharing program:
The Bike Co-op on the Polytechnic Campus provides bicycles for students, staff, and faculty to check out for no charge. The Bike Co-ops on Tempe, Polytechnic, and Downtown campuses provide reduced-cost tools, parts, and assistance to repair bicycles.

In 2009, Arizona State University established a Departmental Bike Sharing Program at the Tempe campus within the Global Institute of Sustainability. Building occupants can check out a bicycle online as they do for an electric cart. This program is available university-wide.

The City of Tempe has installed a city-wide bike share for which ASU provided financial support. There are 3 stations on campus plus several virtual hubs as a part of the city-wide bicycle sharing program.

Does the institution participate in a car sharing program?:
Yes

None

Does the institution offer preferential parking or other incentives for fuel efficient vehicles?:
No

A brief description of the incentives for fuel efficient vehicles:
Registered carpoolers may park in specially-marked HOV spaces which are typically located on the ground level of a parking structure or close to a parking facility’s entrance. They also receive three, all-day validation tickets for visitor parking to provide additional flexibility and are eligible for an Eco-Pass.

Does the institution have one or more Level 2 or Level 3 electric vehicle recharging stations that are accessible to student and employee commuters?:
Yes

Does the institution have incentives or programs to encourage employees to live close to campus?:
Yes

None
A brief description of the incentives or programs to encourage employees to live close to campus:
Employees that are enrolled in classes are eligible to live in houses on the Polytechnic Campus, once all interested students have been accommodated. Further, the heavy public transportation subsidy provided by the University is an incentive for living closer to its campuses.

Does the institution have other programs or initiatives to encourage more sustainable modes of transportation and/or reduce the impact of student and employee commuting?:
Yes

A brief description of other programs or initiatives to encourage more sustainable modes of transportation and/or reduce the impact of student and employee commuting:
ASU has several programs to support more sustainable modes of transportation:
(1) ASU offers the Eco-Pass, which provides Sun Devils that primarily use non-SOV modes of transit the flexibility of being able to park on campus on infrequent occasions at significant savings. The pass allows for 30 all-day parking privileges for an entire permit year in a designated parking lot or structure. To purchase the Eco-Pass, a Sun Devil must be: part of a carpool group with an HOV permit, a Platinum Pass or U-Pass holder, or a registered bicyclist.
(2) ASU subsidizes over half of the value of transit passes (Upass and Platinum pass) for students, faculty, and staff to incentivize bus and light rail utilization.
(3) ASU has three bike valets and nine card access bike storage facilities to incentivize bike ridership by helping reduce bike theft.
(4) ASU provides a private shuttle system for students, faculty, and staff which generates over two million boardings per year.
