Seeds of Sustainability training is mandatory for all ASU staff.

ASU offers several forms of internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities:

Annual Commission on the Status of Women/Staff Council Professional Development Conference, which includes workshops on sustainability. Example workshops: The Intersection of Sustainability and Self Care and Sustainability: Water in the West: What Drought Means to You and ASU.

Online sustainability literacy training is open to all staff members with the following modules: Seeds of Sustainability, Sustainable Purchasing, Green Devil Training, Office Compost at ASU and Staff Sustainable Event Training.

University Sustainability Practices, Zero Waste and Sun Devil Hospitality jointly offer Staff Event Planner Sustainability Certification Training twice a semester in person or via Zoom. This training is also available via Career Edge as a self-paced training.

University Sustainability Practices and Zero Waste department also offer customized presentations to individual departments upon request covering a variety of sustainability topics. Examples include: ASU’s Sustainability Goals, Sustainable Recognition Program - How to Green Your Event, Edible Plant Walking Tour, United States Green Building Council LEED training opportunities and Sustainable Dining at ASU.

LinkedIn Learning courses on sustainability topics ranging from green building to diversity and inclusion are available to employees.

Additionally, the Committee for Campus Inclusion holds an annual conference, free and open, to all faculty, students, and staff.

ASU offers all employees free access to United States Green Building Council training materials (LEED certification) and LinkedIn Learning materials.
