To encourage employee engagement, and support ASU’s impact in the communities it serves, ASU provides paid time off from regular duties for employees to volunteer. The university provides employees up to eight hours of paid time off from regularly scheduled work hours each year to volunteer at local 501(c)(3) charitable organizations.

Part 1:
Participation data is based on results from the Graduating Student Report Card survey from 2022.

Part 2:
Hours of community service based on FY18 data. This is the last year ASU has comprehensive community service data since the COVID-19 pandemic (causing substantial transitions in staffing and processes in our units that managed community service programs). Based on guidance from AASHE (https://stars.aashe.org/resources-support/help-center/using-the-reporting-tool/stars-reporting-and-covid-19/), the data from FY18 is being submitted here. We are confident that this data is a reasonable proxy for FY21 based on the stable participation rate data from the Graduating Student Report Card survey since 2014.

Note about the discrepancy in # of students: the number for this credit excludes online students. Student headcount reported here aligns with EN-1 and includes the Tempe, Downtown Phoenix, Polytechnic, West, and Lake Havasu City campuses.
