The Community Planning graduate program at Auburn is a professionally-oriented, professional masters degree program. The hallmark of the program is the opportunity for students to work with real clients, on real planning projects, in almost every class.
Urban Planning is a profession that offers a wide range of opportunities for people with many different talents and aspirations. Planning is concerned with the use of land, protection of the environment, public welfare, the design of public spaces and infrastructure, and the economy.

The Auburn Master's in Landscape Architecure involves three areas of inquiry, which guide and regulate its teaching and learning strategies. These are ecological urbanism, environmental justice and global challenges. Together they make up what we call the critical practice of landscape architecture.

This program involves several types of interdisciplinary graduate degrees: a joint PhD in Applied Economics (with Forestry and Economics faculty), an MS in Agricultural Business and Economics, an MS in Rural Sociology, a Master of Agriculture, and a joint MBA in Natural Resources and Environmental Management (with the College of Business).
Specialty areas of faculty in the program include production economics, price analysis, marketing, finance, quantitative methods, applied econometrics, natural resources, international trade, economic development, environmental studies, aquacultural economics, agribusiness, farm management, social and community organization, and community development. Additional areas of concentration, such as statistics, agricultural production science, economics, computer science, human sciences, and social sciences may be emphasized with graduate course work in other departments.
