Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Conversion to Biomass-based Renewable Fuel Oil

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
As part of our effort to reduce/eliminate the use of fossil fuels, we are converting one of our boilers in our Central Steam Plant to burn a new biofuel called Renewable Fuel Oil (RFO). It is produced by a Canadian company called ENSYN Fuels. It is an oil produced from cellulosic lignin. In ENSYN's case, they are using waste wood from wood products manufacturers tom produce RFO. We estimate that the RFO boiler will provide 70% of the Campus' heating needs. This will reduce our carbon emission by 3,000 MTCE. We are the first College or University to burn this fuel, and one of only three institutions in the US. Assuming all goes according plan, we will convert a second boiler next year to RFO to reduce the use of fossil fuels in our Central Plant only for back-up. This will reduce carbon emissions by another 2,000 MTCE.
