In 2014-15 the Division of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) conducted a campus climate survey to evaluate the current campus climate regarding diversity, equity and inclusion.
The survey examined current attitudes, behaviors and standards of our students, faculty, and staff concerning the level of respect on campus for individual needs, abilities and potential.

A brief description of the most recent assessment findings and how the results are used in shaping policy, programs and initiatives:
The findings were classified within the major thematic experiences constituents expressed. These themes defined the areas of opportunity for Binghamton University to create the welcoming and supportive environment that promotes inclusive excellence. The themes were diversity, discrimination/harassment/incivility concerns and knowledge of campus resources.
The university community responded that the overall climate on campus is comfortable
and that diversity is very important on campus. Majority of faculty, administrators, and staff were aware that the university has a stated policy regarding diversity; Faculty, Administration/Staff are very aware of the procedures for addressing discrimination /harassment and hate incidents on campus.
Overall employees and students generally believe that Binghamton University is a great place to work and attend school. However, the responses reflected individual experiences that indicated a need for improvement in order to create a more inclusive environment. The survey data provided directives under four primary areas which were discrimination/harassment/incivility, communication & transparency, professional/educational development, and knowledge about campus resources regarding diversity and inclusion.
