Environmental Studies Program offers numerous opportunities to work in the field. Binghamton University owns over 1300 acres of vegetated grounds including 272 preserved land. These areas are used for field studies and research by various departments. In 2018, we added 150 additional acres in the form of the Nuthatch Hollow property. This property is used as part of research and class activities that of focus on measuring the impact of human activities on the natural environment. The same program also offers an opportunity to study tropical ecology in Costa Rica during the 10-day spring break. Additional information can be found on the following websites:

We also run a Masters program in Sustainable Communities. This program involves training students in community-engaged research that takes place in the local Binghamton region. Students work with local organizations on projects related to sustainability. These projects address environmental, social and economic issues of our community. See more information here:
