Pamela Mischen, associate professor of public administration, is a member of the board of trustees of Roberson Museum and Science Center and the advisory board of the Healthy Lifestyles Coalition of United Way of Broome County.

in Fall of 2017, a Sustainable Communities masters degree course PAFF516 required students to review AASHE STARS reports from BU and other SUNY campuses to benchmark our performance. Students were assigned specific STARS categories to perform SWAT analysis on BU's sustainability efforts. A final report was used to develop BU's Sustainability Plan.

Binghamton is a leading member of a consortium, New York Higher Education Large Scale Renewable Energy Project, to initiate a large renewable energy procurement process for multiple public and private colleges and universities. Binghamton is one of the five steering committee members to review technical data and member inputs to guide decision making processes. The goal is to procure long term power supply from new renewable energy projects while managing price risk of wholesale electric price.
