Percentage of newly constructed or renovated building space certified under a green building rating system for design and construction:
31.57
A list of new construction and major renovation projects that indicates the green building code, policy/guideline, or rating system that applies to each building:
Smart Energy Building (Energy R&D) - Certified LEED Gold in 2019
School of Pharmacy - LEED Silver certifiable, constructed in 2018
Health Science Building - LEED Silver+ certifiable, constructed in 2020
Baseball Fieldhouse - LEED Silver+ certifiable, constructed in 2021
After going through LEED certification process for New Construction for sixteen buildings since 2007, it has become increasingly clear that some of the design elements in the LEED rating system are not cost-effective. Maintenance of certain sustainability features also became non-sustainable. The University continues to pursuit the highest achievable energy / water efficient buildings while minimizing the environmental impacts. LEED and Living Building standards are now used only to guide our building design.
