There are several governance bodies that operate at Binghamton University. A brief description of the campus-community council or equivalent body that gives external stakeholders a regular voice in institutional decisions that affect them:
Binghamton University Council (https://www.binghamton.edu/organizations/bu-council/index.html) is comprised of is comprised of 10 unpaid members – nine appointed by the governor of New York and the tenth, a student, selected by his or her peers. The 9 appointed members are from the local community. Two of the BU Council members sit on the Road Map Steering Committee (our university strategic planning committee) and act as a conduit between the two bodies.
