Which of the following best describes the institution’s approach to rainwater management?:
A brief description of the institution’s green infrastructure and LID practices:
Stormwater runoff quantity and quality are addressed on a project by project basis. Stormwater is collected in underground cisterns then discharged over time to maintain the groundwater level. Additionally, bioswales are used when possible to reduce surface runoff and recharge the water table. The Medical Student Residence, completed in 2012, features rainwater harvesting for landscape irrigation. URL: https://www.bu.edu/sustainability/projects/medical-student-residence/
The Yawkey Center for Student Services, which became operational in 2012, uses a ground and stormwater retention system.
