Which of the following best describes the institution’s approach to rainwater management?:
No written policies, plans or guidelines, but green infrastructure and LID practices are used

A brief description of the institution’s green infrastructure and LID practices:

Stormwater runoff quantity and quality are addressed on a project by project basis. Stormwater is collected in underground cisterns then discharged over time to maintain the groundwater level. Additionally, bioswales are used when possible to reduce surface runoff and recharge the water table. The Medical Student Residence, completed in 2012, features rainwater harvesting for landscape irrigation. URL: https://www.bu.edu/sustainability/projects/medical-student-residence/

The Yawkey Center for Student Services, which became operational in 2012, uses a ground and stormwater retention system. URL: https://www.bu.edu/sustainability/projects/yawkey-center-for-student-services/ New Balance Field employs rain harvesting technology and drip irrigation to water the landscaping surrounding the field. An underground rainwater tank, with a 15,000 gallon capacity, will capture and store rainwater to be used as needed. URL: https://www.bu.edu/sustainability/projects/water-conservation/
