Sustainable Bowdoin asks for volunteers to be part of Bowdoin's Office Eco-rep program. The Sustainability Coordinator has reached out to different departments to encourage volunteers, or individuals reach out to the Sustainability Office to express interest in becoming an Office EcoRep after hearing about the program from other colleagues.

A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive (1st program):
An hour long training is conducted each year with the Office EcoReps to share information and provide progress updates regarding Bowdoin's sustainabilty metrics such as the annual GHG report, annual recycling rate, paper purchasing (both amount purchased and percentage recycled), etc. Additional meetings are held twice a semester to review topics such as waste reduction, green landscaping practices, and Bowdoin's climate action plan. In these meetings the coordinator facilitates a discussion on what Bowdoin is doing to become more sustainable and shares ideas on how the EcoReps can engage their offices in environmental behaviors. Additionally, the Sustainability Coordinate leads tours that feature campus sustainability projects. Some examples of tours: a walk through new LEED certifide buildings, a viewing and explanation of Bowdoin's 1.2 MW solar PV system, a guided sustainability tour hrough the dining kitchen to point out sustainable dining practices.

The Coordinator for a Sustainable Bowdoin provides resources to help office Eco-reps so that they can encourage office participation in energy use reduction competitions, recycling, environmentally friendly purchasing and other sustainable practices. The Sustainability Coordinator also organizes Office Ecorep lunches to discuss any relevant information with the Ecoreps.
