A brief description of the institution’s LGBTQ-inclusive policies, programs and practices:
Bowdoin College’s Sexuality, Women and Gender Center (SWAG) collaborates with departments across the campus to create a LGBTQ welcoming campus where students can thrive with all aspects of their identity. From residential policies to orientation programs, and from gender inclusive bathrooms to gender inclusive health insurance, the college has a deep commitment to creating policies that support the needs of the queer community. SWAG also works to create a queer friendly space within the Center, and well as across all social communities in the campus. One of the places SWAG has had great success is within athletics – most teams have trained OUTAllies/OUTPeers on them, and SWAG cohosts with athletics an annual dinner for rising leaders to think about how to create queer friendly teams. https://www.campuspride.org/resources/top-10-athletics/
