Through an outsourced Employee Assistance Program (EAP) administered by Anthem, the College provides free, confidential counseling services, including debt, childcare, and eldercare, to all benefits-eligible employees and members of their immediate families. With the EAP, anyone eligible is entitled to eight free visits in each of the above categories. Bowdoin completely or partially covers the cost for employees at a number of local smoking cessation programs. Bowdoin maintains a robust fitness and wellness program, with classes and workshops that are free to students as well as staff, faculty, and their families, and at a reduced price over the summer. Athletic facilities, including a gym, pool, ice rink, and outdoor fields are also available free of charge to students, faculty, and staff. Counseling services are available for free to all students. These include individual and group therapy, substance abuse programs, and referrals to outside healthcare providers.
