The office of environmental health and safety (EHS) works collaboratively with campus constituents to adhere to local, state, and federal regulations. The office of EHS serves as the biological, chemical, radiological, workplace safety, and fire prevention/protection office, establishing comprehensive programs that meet or exceed regulatory compliance standards. Through continuous recognition, evaluation, and control of hazards, the college strives to significantly reduce or eliminate individual risk and environmental impact of the College’s activities. The office of EHS provides guidelines, policies, and training for workplace safety ranging from hazardous waste management to fire prevention. The office of EHS oversees 50+ written safety programs that are accessible on the office of EHS’s website. Employees are encouraged to report all "near misses" and injuries and illness for further evaluation. The Campus Safety Committee with representatives from several departments meets regularly to develop and review safety initiatives and act as the liaison for all safety concerns of campus constituents. The facilities management department also has an organized safety committee where representatives from each shop (pPlumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.) meet every other month to discuss departmental safety concerns and ideas for improving safety culture.
