Does the institution conduct an assessment of sustainability culture?:
Yes

Which of the following best describes the cultural assessment? The assessment is administered to::
The entire campus community (students and employees) directly or by representative sample

Which of the following best describes the structure of the cultural assessment? The assessment is administered::
Longitudinally to measure change over time

A brief description of how and when the cultural assessment(s) were developed and/or adopted:
We used a survey process to assess our sustainability on campus. All first year students were surveyed as part of the Gateway Program, a required one credit course for all incoming first year students. This survey will be sent annually going forward to students in this course so we will get more detailed data points. We will also survey the same students when they reach their senior year.

The entire campus was surveyed in December, 2021 and January, 2022. The survey had a different set of questions than those sent to the first year students since it was meant for all faculty, staff and students. The same survey questions will be administered the same time annually to better gage our progress with sustainable initiatives important to the Bryant community.

A copy of the questions are loaded above. The survey questions are designed to solicit information that will provide direction for the University to move forward.

A brief description of how representative samples were reached (if applicable) and how the cultural assessment is administered:
The surveys sent out were targeted to faculty, staff and students. We used a broadcast email with a link to the survey, we also used Instagram to remind students. The survey was set-up so that only one response could be submitted by each respondent.

A brief summary of results from the cultural assessment:
We found that waste generation is the topic most prevalent on the survey. There is an active recycling program on campus and we will be adding Big Belly to campus this summer.
Sustainable food and greenhouse gas emissions are the two areas of focus after waste minimization. Students want to get more food locally and there is an appetite for more alternative energy.
