The Diversity Center serves as an open and inclusive symbol to the Butler campus that fosters contributions of intercultural engagement, support, guidance, and a home to the Butler community committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The President’s Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is charged with monitoring and reporting progress on the University’s efforts to build and maintain an intentionally diverse, inclusive, and equitable learning and working environment. The Council takes a data-driven approach in its work and serves in an advisory capacity to President Danko.
The Council also provides guidance regarding the newly-established Butler University DEI Innovation Fund, which will provide investments in University initiatives that advance our collective work in these important areas. https://www.butler.edu/diversity/presidents-council
As of 2021, there is a Faculty Director of DEI in the Provost's Office and each college has either a Faculty Director or an Associate Dean of DEI to propel efforts in each college and throughout academics.

Butler utilizes an online training platform through Everfi for diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings. The DEI trainings are mandatory for all full-time staff and all faculty.
Butler requires all incoming students, as of 2021, to take one course in any part of the University that exposes them to critical scholarship on the root causes of marginalization and inequity and how to counter it. https://www.butler.edu/core/social-justice-and-diversity
The office of Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS) offers Safe Space training as a part of the outreach and educational programming on campus. The program invites faculty, staff, and students to become active and effective allies to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ+) community. The goal of the Safe Space program is to provide a more hospitable environment for LGBTQ+ individuals by establishing an identifiable network of allies who can provide support, information, and serve as allies to LGBTQ+ individuals within the Butler community.
