Chico Student Success Center: In the Chico Student Success Center (CSSC) we seek to serve and support first generation, low income or historically excluded students, from outreach to graduation, with personalized attention to their academic goals and individual journey.

REACH: REACH (Raising Educational Achievement in Collaborative Hubs) is a program within the Chico Student Success Center(opens in new window) at CSU, Chico aimed to increase academic achievement amongst first-year students, by providing transitional support from high school to college. We understand that starting your journey in college is challenging, but our REACH Program is here to help! REACH assists first-generation, first-year college students from traditionally underserved backgrounds succeed during their first-year and beyond by connecting them with a peer and faculty mentor, introducing them to campus resources, and creating an inclusive welcoming space where they can form friends and allies.

Chico Affordable Learning Solutions (CAL$): Chico Affordable Learning Solutions (CAL$) provides resources to faculty regarding affordable course materials, including how to find quality zero-cost or low-cost textbooks and other materials, or design one’s own Open Educational Resources (OERs).https://www.csuchico.edu/cals/

As part of the California State University (CSU) system, low-income students are eligible for an application fee waiver, the State University Grant (SUG) and Cal Grant programs. The SUG and Cal Grant programs offer state-based financial aid which are targeted specifically to low-income students for the purpose of offsetting the cost of tuition. Additionally, students enrolled in the EOP and Student Support Services programs are eligible to receive an EOP Grant and Student Support Services grant. The CSU’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) provides admission, academic and financial support services to historically underserved students throughout California.

In accordance with the guidelines set by the California State University (CSU) System, the Student Academic Services Outreach Program's (SASOP) mission is to increase college enrollment of students who are disadvantaged due to economic, educational and/or environmental backgrounds

CSU campuses have the Federal Work-Study Program, which provides jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay for expenses related to their education. The program encourages community service work and work related to your course of study.

Most CSU campuses have dedicated CalFresh Outreach programs to help students with the application process to find out if they qualify for this benefit.

The State University Grant (SUG) program provides need-based awards to eligible undergraduate and graduate/post baccalaureate students who are California residents or otherwise determined as eligible, such as AB 540-eligible students. When you apply for financial aid via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act application (CADA) you are considered for a SUG by your campus.

The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) serves as a primary vehicle for the CSU in increasing the access, academic excellence and retention of California’s historically underserved students. The program provides admission, academic, and financial assistance to EOP-eligible undergraduate students.

A brief description of notable policies or programs to support non-traditional students:
Educational Support Programs (ESP) administers four university programs (Disability Support Services, Educational Opportunity Program, Student Support Services, and the Student Learning Center) whose main goal is to assist in the retention of all undergraduate students, with a special emphasis on providing support for students from non-traditional populations.

Elder College. Persons age 60 and over can register to take Chico State classes on a non-credit, space-available basis with the permission of the instructor.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), is a peer-led, learning in retirement organization that offers a wide variety of non-credit classes and activities for adults, age 50+ or retired. In addition,
