A brief description of the diversity and equity committee, office and/or officer, including purview and activities:
CSUDH hired its first vice president and chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer in July 2022. This officer report directly to the President as a member of his senior leadership team, and is responsible for ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusion are not only practiced, but embraced throughout all aspects of the CSUDH community.  She is responsible for leading the development of a diversity and inclusion strategic plan; establishing infrastructure for data collection and communication around equity and inclusion; developing recruitment and retention programs for diverse faculty and staff; and fostering community partnerships. The position also oversees the Office of Equity and Inclusion, which includes Title IX and Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation.

All CSUDH staff, faculty, administrators, and student employees are required to participate in yearly trainings to comply with CSU policy, CA state laws, and federal regulations. The CSUDH Office of Equity ensures compliance with three annual trainings:

Preventing Discrimination and Harassment for Supervisors
Preventing Discrimination and Harassment for Non-Supervisors
CSU's Sexual Misconduct Prevention Program

The office also provides on request workshops and trainings on the following topics:
Preventing Discrimination and Harassment
Implicit Bias
Employee Reporting Responsibilities
Responding to Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation
Microaggressions
Bystander Intervention
Inclusive Workspaces

There is also a 2022-23 mandatory Title IX training, Get Inclusive, that is forthcoming
