A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:
A Student Transportation Preference survey was administered in the spring of 2015 in order to gather data required to calculate commuter emissions for the latest greenhouse gas emissions inventory. The survey was emailed out to all students and a team of students and staff also conducted extensive outreach at campus events such as Earth Week in order to promote participation in the survey. Ultimately, more than 4000 responses were received, which is more than 10% of the student population.
