A brief description of how the literacy assessment was developed and/or when it was adopted:
Development of the assessment entailed first reviewing assessment tools from other campuses (submitted for this credit on the STARS reporting platform) to identify best practices. Select questions were pulled from various assessment tools and compiled to create CSULB's draft literacy assessment. This draft was circulated to the Curriculum Committee of the President's Commission on Sustainability for review and comments. The assessment questions were then finalized and a digital survey was created on Qualtrics and a link was shared with faculty with a request to distribute it to their students. The assessment was distributed at the start of the fall 2023 semester.
