The Beach Pathways program encourages applicants from targeted communities based on low socioeconomic status and historically low rates of college to submit supplemental materials for a holistic admissions review. A limited number of applicants will be admitted based on community involvement/leadership, overcoming significant hardship, and potential for degree completion. Educational Talent Search (ETS) targets low-income and potential first-generation high school and middle school students for college admission and financial aid.
Upward Bound serves high school students from low-income families, high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree and low-income, first-generation students who are preparing to enter postsecondary education and demonstrate academic need. A brief description of notable policies or programs to support non-traditional students:
TRiO and Migrant Programs offer six innovative, federally-funded, student-centered programs designed to meet the needs of traditionally underrepresented individuals in higher education. These programs help students advance through the academic process from middle school to baccalaureate programs.
The TRiO and Migrant Programs are dedicated to the academic advancement of military veterans, disabled individuals, and low-income, first-generation students. The programs provide academic opportunities, counseling, tutoring, and support to eligible individuals who are motivated to complete an undergraduate and/or advanced degree.
CSULB is also proud to support veteran and military-affiliated students through our Veteran Services Office. The Veteran Services Office helps service members, veterans, and eligible dependents access the educational benefits they earned by serving in the armed forces of the United States.
