The CSULB Campus Climate Survey was conducted in 2020 to evaluate staff perceptions regarding the campus climate and covered important topics such as diversity, satisfaction with the work environment, and employee engagement. The survey was conducted electronically by The Higher Education Research Institute at the University of California Los Angeles.

The Higher Education Research Institute at the University of California Los Angeles has provided recommendations for campus action that would contribute to a more equitable campus. CSULB's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Academic Affairs portfolio was established in 2020 and provides leadership for campus climate research efforts, the synergistic efforts of the President’s Commission on Inclusive Excellence, Status of Women, and Sustainability, and racial equity for high-impact practices. The Faculty & Staff Assistance Program is a free resource offered by Counseling and Psychological Services. FSAP helps employees resolve personal, family, and work-related problems including communication skills training, conflict resolution, and effective change management.
