The Office of Diversity and Inclusion utilizes Hurtado, et.al. assessment framework for diversity in analyzing basic measures of equity and diversity and assessing our progress against these measures. We conduct entering freshmen surveys using UCLA's CIRP surveys through HERI, and NSSE, and conduct local alumni surveys.
In addition, focus groups have been conducted collaboratively between the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Division of Student Life to assess campus climate as perceived by specific groups (e.g. Male Latinx and Male Black Students)

A brief description of the most recent assessment findings and how the results are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:
CIRP entering freshmen surveys helped identify educational needs of students and intendended educational interests. Engaged academic advisors across colleges by providing a profile of freshmen majoring in their college. Also provided campus-wide presentation on our student body and entering freshmen characteristics. Focus group data for males of color are being used to develop a Males of Color Network and programing to better support males of color and close the equity gap.

During opening welcome forums and equity-based training workshops, the Chief Diversity Officer and/or Associate Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion review entering student characteristics, aspirations, and goals based on freshmen surveys.
