How many of the institution’s research-producing divisions are covered by a published open access policy that ensures that versions of future scholarly articles by faculty and staff are deposited in a designated open access repository? (All, Some or None):
None / Don't Know

Which of the following best describes the open access policy? (Mandatory or Voluntary):
Voluntary (strictly opt-in)

Does the institution provide financial incentives to support faculty members with article processing and other open access publication charges?:
Yes

A brief description of the open access policy, including the date adopted, any incentives or supports provided, and the repository(ies) used:
Currently, this is done on a case by case basis. Because there is no policy, open access is voluntary. A number of faculty have published open access books and articles. For example, both Liz Raleigh’s book Selling Transracial Adoptions (Temple) and David Tompkin’s Composing the Party Line: Music and Politics in Early Cold War Poland and East Germany (Purdue University Press) are open access through Knowledge Unlatched.

The institution's open access policy:
The library actively supports open access publishing and is a founding member of the Lever Press, (https://www.leverpress.org/) an open access, peer-reviewed, digitally native press aligned with the mission of liberal arts colleges. As mentioned above, the library also supports Knowledge Unlatched and we participate in other open access ventures such as the Center for Research Libraries’ Global Press Archive. In addition, and in support of open access and the college’s public scholarship initiative, the library has established the Carleton Digital Commons http://digitalcommons.carleton.edu/, the institutional repository for the campus. The campus also supports other options/platforms for open access publishing, such as web pages, etc.
