A brief description of when and why the water use baseline was adopted:
2008 was the first year we started (reliably) tracking our greenhouse gas emissions, so it serves as the baseline year for our Climate Action Plan. We were collecting data in calendar years up until FY19 we shifted to collect in fiscal years.

Figures needed to determine "Weighted Campus Users":
Performance Year Baseline Year
Number of students resident on-site 1,790 1,821
Number of employees resident on-site 26 5
Number of other individuals resident on-site and/or staffed hospital beds 0 0
Total full-time equivalent student enrollment 2,097 1,821
Full-time equivalent of employees (staff + faculty) 712 740
Full-time equivalent of students enrolled exclusively in distance education 0 0
Weighted campus users 2,560.75 2,377.25

Potable water use per weighted campus user:
Performance Year Baseline Year

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Although we don't have a formal stated commitment, Carleton has implemented numerous water use reduction measures including: - low-flow showerheads in residence halls - targeted irrigation practices - water consumption monitor and annual water reduction competition - elimination of bottled water from athletics packs. Potable numbers for this year were calculated from the Sightlines Data. Additional water use was from non-potable irrigation wells (data provided by Grounds Manager, 2,906,383 gallons).
