All enrolled students are eligible to run for student council and for a number of positions on different committees. Each term a list of positions are submitted to the student body, and elections are held to fill those positions.

A brief description of the bodies and mechanisms through which staff are engaged in governance, including information to support each affirmative response above:
Staff are present on campus committees which are part of the governance process, and many serve in an advisory/support role to the Board of Trustees. Staff is broken into two categories: Exempt and Non-Exempt in which they each have their own governance or Forum and Staff at Carleton (SAC), respectively. Many staff and faculty are on committees like the Budget Committee that operate year-round and influence the decisions of the College.
