Green Workplace Certification (through the Eco Reps Program)
A brief description of the campaign:
The Green Workplace Certification is designed to educate and encourage members of the Carleton community to adopt sustainable practices in their workplaces. The checklist offers action items that promote environmental vitality, human health & well-being, and financial viability. We hope it inspires you to develop creative solutions to sustainability challenges in your workplace.
The program provides recognition of efforts towards sustainability through a workplace certification rating, which can be displayed in your workplace.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
To date, two of the Eco Reps at Carleton University have qualified their workplace for a Green Workplace Certification, with a third Eco Rep to be awarded soon. Of the two recipients thus far, one earned a gold rating certification and the other a silver rating. Both demonstrated key commitment and progress against a number of sustainability actions and highlight the good work Eco Reps are doing on campus.

Waste awareness campaign - New Waste Bins and Organic Collection
A brief description of the campaign (2nd campaign):
Carleton adopted a new waste program in 2019, that included the revised provision of organic waste collection in all dining hall spaces. Accompanying this was the introduction of new waste bins and what was termed a waste wall. This was a set up, behind the waste collection bins, of all waste that is generated in the food hall and where it goes. In addition student ambassadors were recruited to stand by the waste bins and at entrances to educate and inform other student peers to the changes and to the new program. This included providing information flyers in the first few weeks and answering questions towards the program.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):
Carleton conducted a series of third party waste audits at our Dining Hall location in order to determine the impact of improved collection, signage and engagement. An audit carried our prior to COVID demonstrated that over 90% of all waste collected was being diverted from landfill. This was significantly up on previous results.
