A brief description of how the strategic plan or amendment addresses the environmental dimensions of sustainability:
Carnegie Mellon University Strategic Plan 2008 includes language to address environmental dimensions of sustainability. When developing our latest Strategic Plan, six committees were launched in the fall of 2007: Education & Student Life, Research & Artistic Creation, Regional Impact, Globalization & International Initiatives, Carnegie Mellon Community Success, and Finance & Infrastructure. Throughout the fall and spring semesters of the 2007-2008 academic year, several Town Meetings were held, as were additional meetings with various campus councils, committees, and groups. The review provided essential input to the continued development of the committee drafts. As indicated in Figure 1, page 8 of the 2008 Strategic Plan, "Transitioning to an Environmentally Sustainable Society" is one of the 5 areas of "foundational research" for Carnegie Mellon.
