Do the figures reported above cover one, two, or three academic years?:
One

A brief description of the methodology used to determine the total number of courses offered and to identify sustainability course offerings, including the definitions used and the process for reviewing and/or validating the course inventory :
Carnegie Mellon does not distinguish between sustainability focused and sustainability related courses in our course catalog. For the purposes of this assessment, however, we reviewed faculty-written course descriptions against the UN Goals for Sustainable Development and used faculty-provided input about course content. Where the entire focus of the course encompasses one or more UN Goals, the course was identified as a sustainability-focused course. Where the course includes issues of sustainability among other topics , the course was identified as a sustainability-related course. The final lists were reviewed by academic administrators and institutional research.

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Each course was counted as a single course regardless of the number of offerings or sections

A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted (if different from the options outlined above):
If a course was offered with both a graduate and undergraduate course number it was counted in each category. Any course with multiple sections in undergraduate or graduate levels, however, was counted only once.
