A brief description of the institution’s green infrastructure and LID practices:
We use green infrastructure and LID practices across the campus. We have multiple vegetated bio-swales on campus as well as oil/water separators and rain gardens. We have restored 58 acres of wetlands on campus and take great care to reduce pollution from storm water runoff into these wetlands. One of the students in our Bachelor of Applied Science in Sustainable Practices program is currently developing a comprehensive inventory of the LID features on campus and suggesting the developing of new LID features in light of our recently updated campus master plan.

The commitment of both UW Bothell and Cascadia College to environmental
protection, sustainability, and the well being of students, staff, faculty, and the surrounding community is integral to the Campus Master Plan. Energy conservation, natural daylight and ventilation, efficient use of resources, preservation of environmentally valuable features, and a mix of vibrant and passive open spaces are all means of enhancing the environmental and human health of campus and community. The campus’ environmental resources and critical habitats will continue to be
managed in a manner that promotes academic, research, and partnership
opportunities for UW Bothell, Cascadia College, and the community-at-large.
