Part 1. Student commute modal split

Has the institution gathered data about student commuting behavior?:
Yes

Total percentage of students that use more sustainable commuting options as their primary mode of transportation:

A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
In the past, data pertaining to student parking permits issued and RTA passes issued was obtained. Non-motorized commuters was calculated by subtracting permits and passes from student total and using anecdotal surveying. In the Fall of FY18 a benchmarking survey was issued for the second time to more accurately determine mode split, the results of which are displayed below.

Total percentage of employees that use more sustainable commuting options as their primary mode of transportation:

A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting:
In the past data was collected pertaining to how many University staff have parking permits and how many have RTA passes. These numbers were subtracted from the total number of employees to calculate non-motorized commuters.
In the Fall of FY18 & FY20 a benchmarking survey was issued for the second time to more accurately determine mode split.

99% of CWRU undergrad students live on or within easy walking/commuting distance of the campus and there is an increasing availability of local housing in or very near University Circle, where the university campus is located.
Over 50% of graduate students live within 5 miles of campus.
Additionally electric bikes and electric scooters are now on the market in the City of Cleveland.
