The Center for the Environment produces a newsletter and maintains Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts to connect with students, staff, alumni, and the community. The latest edition of the newsletter chronicled the 25th anniversary of the Center for the Environment including its events, alumni testimonials, campus and community projects, and outreach programs. The College's main instagram and facebook accounts often post our "green guide" videos and

Signage

Does the institution have signage that highlights sustainability features on campus?:
Yes

A brief description of the signage that highlights sustainability features on campus:
The College has signage in the lobbies of the nine campus buildings that host photovoltaic and solar thermal installations. These signs show pictures of the rooftop solar installations and describe the College's renewable energy programs.

The College has additional signage located outside of each building that has a rooftop solar installation. Each of these signs includes information on the solar installation in question, including the photovoltaic capacity and annual production of each installation, a photograph of the rooftop solar installation, and a QR code where more information can be found regarding the College's entire solar system, as well as specific information on each installation.

The College has 20,000 square feet of LEED-certified dorms that were constructed in 2009. A recognition plaque from that construction is affixed to the wall in the College's Hurley Room, a central meeting space within the Cannon Student Center.

A brief description of the sustainability walking map or tour:
The Catawba College website contains many interactive map overlays for campus attendees, which can be accessed here: https://www.catawba.edu/maps/. Please navigate to the Sustainability Map tab to see our Sustainability Walking Map.

The Sustainability Walking Map highlights the sustainability features of the built and natural elements of the campus. The Key helps inform campus visitors of features including LEED-certified buildings, geothermal heating and cooling systems, buildings with photovoltaic and solar water heating systems, and areas of conservation importance like the Fred Stanback, Jr. Ecological Preserve.

Green living guide

Yes

The College has a virtual Green Guide on social media pages, specifically via Facebook and Instagram. The first of this series of videos can be found at the following links:

Subsequent videos in the series can be found on the same social media pages.

The Green Guide is a series of videos intended to educate the campus community on sustainability initiatives and strategies that they can be involved in. More specifically, this series of videos has thus far highlighted topics such as waste and zero-waste events, transportation and the College's Bike Share program, and the rules of recycling on campus.
