A brief description of the bicycle parking and storage facilities:
Champlain College has two indoor bicycle storage rooms located in Butler Hall and Juniper Halls that can be used by ALL residential students (and employees) regardless of which hall they live in. An additional commuter bicycle storage space in Cushing Hall and 194 St. Paul Street were added in 2018. There are plenty of bike racks available on campus for short term use. Greenride Bikeshare is the regional bikeshare system here in Burlington. Champlain students and employees can obtain a $25 annual membership and all the info at www.greenridebikeshare.com.

Mass Transit Programs 

Does the institution offer free or reduced price transit passes and/or operate a free campus shuttle for commuters?:

A brief description of the mass transit programs:
Champlain College, in conjunction with Mountain Transit, operates two free shuttle buses for students, employees and guests. All shuttles pick up and drop off near the CCM Center on main campus and the pickup locations are visible from inside the CCM Center transit lounge to the Lakeside Campus and 194 St. Paul Street. Buses can be tracked via GPS at http://shuttle.champlain.edu www.champlain.edu/shuttle All Champlain College students and employees can ride any Green Mountain Transit (GMT) bus anytime, anywhere for FREE, including the LINK Express and Commuter routes. This free benefit also includes use of ACTR (Addison County Transit Resources) buses from Addison County including Middlebury, Bristol, Vergennes, Starksboro and Hinesburg. Your Champlain ID card is already set up, so simply swipe it through the fare box card reader as you board the bus. GMT is the public bus service for northwestern Vermont. It is headquartered in Chittenden County and also serves the surrounding counties. Champlain College affiliates can ride buses for FREE through our Unlimited Access Program with CATMA. All Champlain College employees who are riding the bus on a regular basis qualify for CATMA's Guaranteed Ride Home program. Guaranteed Return Trip Program

A brief description of the guaranteed return trip program:
Offered through CATMA http://catmavt.org/program/guaranteed-ride-home Our convenient FREE program is offered to employees at CATMA's member employers who use an alternate mode of transportation [carpool (riding with a family member is included), vanpool, bike, walk or take the bus] on a regular basis at least two days a week. Not having a car available for emergency trips home, is one of the drawbacks for people who are considering alternate forms of commuting. To alleviate this worry, CATMA provides an Emergency Ride Home FREE of charge to anyone associated with its membership who regularly uses an alternate commute mode. We'll issue you your personal CATMA Commute Smart Card once you register.

Carpool/Vanpool Programs

As of fall 2018, a Level 2 charging station is available in the MIC parking lot for visitors and/or campus users and another Level 2 station is located in the Lakeside parking lot. Level 1 charging is available in Rowell Annex and will be expanded in 2019.

The College does not have an official policy, but it is up to individual managers to determine when it is appropriate in their departments. Several offices offer this option to their employees.

Champlain College (the College) offers a flexible work schedule for full-time staff to support their work/life balance. Champlain has a limited stock of housing (3 houses, 4 apartments) that are available to rent to current employees. All housing is within walking distance of the campus.

Yes

A brief description of other strategies to reduce the impact of commuting:
Free parking for EVs; a few (5) preferred parking spots available for hybrid/EV vehicles. All employees are eligible to participate in the Bike/Walk Rewards program. Active Transportation Plan of 2015 found here: https://sites.google.com/a/champlain.edu/active-transportation-plan/ In Fall 2015, the College restructured the transportation office, moving it out of public safety and as of 2018 is part of the Campus Planning / Finance Team. A full time Director of Transportation manages all aspects of campus transportation.
