The Office of Institutional Diversity coordinates and implements a college-wide diversity and inclusion strategy across the institution and is committed to working in partnership with all members of our college and external partners to build a welcoming and inclusive community where students, faculty and staff engage in continuous learning and growth.
We strategically organize our diversity and inclusion work within an institutional framework that is comprehensive and includes all areas of the organization.
To advance Diversity & Inclusion, the College efforts are lead by the VP of Student Affairs and Institutional Diversity and Inclusion bringing together partners from Academic Affairs and Academic Divisions, Enrollment Management, People Center/Human Resources, students, and the College Diversity Council, which serves in an advisory capacity to the President.

Faculty - Faculty Senate Multicultural Committee; Divisional Program; and the D,E, & I Toolkit - During the Fall 2016 semester, Eric Ronis, Special Assistant to the Provost for Diversity and Inclusion in Academics, conducted a series of interviews with full-time faculty. A majority of faculty expressed a desire for resources and tools around D&I work that they would find “useful” and “practical,” especially in the classroom. This Canvas Toolkit was born out of that request. Here, we attempt to share in one central place information and best practices for Champlain College faculty.
Our desired outcomes for this toolkit include:
- To increase faculty access to current information in the areas of equity, diversity and inclusion, especially as those areas impact higher education;
- To share practical tools for potential use in the classroom; and
- To provide a medium to sustain ongoing conversation and learning around equity, diversity and inclusion issues throughout the academic year, as we continue to deepen and expand knowledge and practices within the entire College community.
